What are the benifits to leech treatments for medical conditions such as, vertigo?

I read some articles on the internet saying leeches can help some diseases. Do leeches actually hurt? I was diagnosed with vertigo 3 yrs ago. I still have attacks of and on. I have some vitamin deficiencies that set of my attacks. How would leeches help?
